What is Fête de la Science?

It's a national 1-week event advocated each year by the French Ministry of Higher Studies, Research and Innovation focusing on raising awareness all over France of French scientific culture and its daily impact on our lives. The aim is to invite Parisian institutions and scientific/research entities to open their doors to the citizens and experiment, better understand or debate about the state-of-arts research projects of the year. Fête de la Science is celebrating its 28th year in 2019. It was initiated by Hubert Curien in 1991.

This year, CRI organizes its 2nd edition of FETE DE LA SCIENCE @CRI from October 7th to the 12th.

For this occasion, CRI will be hosting a series of evening lectures on topics as diversified as citizen science, popularisation of science, the study of movement or the link between art and science:

  • Monday, October 7th from 6:30 pm: Roundtable "La vulgarisation scientifique : un mouvement favorisant la mobilisation citoyenne vis à vis de la science ?" (in french)
  • Tuesday, October 8th from 6:30 pm: Conference "Le numérique et l’espace temps. Regards sur la « Société en mouvement " (in french)
  • Wednesday, October 9th from 6:30 pm: Cine-Debate "It takes a village to raise a child" (in french)
  • Thursday, October 10th from 6:30 pm: Roundtable "Are YOU the future of science?" (in french)
  • Friday, October 11th from 6:30 pm: Conference "Study the movements of animals to understand their evolution" (in french)

Wednesday, October 9th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, CRI opens its doors to present workshops for all audiences on the discovery of bacteria, connected tissues, meditation, the construction of scientific puzzles or awareness of environmental issues.

Saturday, October 12th starting from 2:00 pm, we are happy to announce an event at Fête de la science this year. Global educative action called Mendeleiev. Lab is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Periodic table of chemical elements discovered by Dimitri Mendeleiev. (opening in 2018 in UNESCO).

The event takes place in the frames of the International Year of the Periodic Table (the opening ceremony happened in january 2019 in UNESCO headquaters in Paris). Come and try yourself in modern chemistry with the help of a professional scientist. The winners of the quiz will get prizes and everybody will have the pleasure of communicating with the real science et getting new knowledge! Event is open to the public and is co-organised together with researchers from CRI,, Russian Cultural Centre in Paris and Lecturers without borders.
